Montis Typeface

At the end of my study at ArtEZ University of the Arts, I was accepted at Studio Boot, where I did a six months internship. Here, I was asked to design a typeface for Montis; A furniture brand with their showroom based in Dongen, Netherlands. Montis was looking for a new corporate identity that could be applied to magazines, price lists, furniture, photography and showrooms. In addition to helping develop this corporate identity, my task was to focus on creating a matching typeface.

“Everything starts with a dot.”

The typeface I created is based on the existing Montis logo that has been around since the 1970s. Each letter is made up of 11 by 11 dots. With this design, Studio Boot has built a concept that has put more focus on the dots used in the logo and therefore creating a full corporate identity around this dot. The typeface I made is used on various media expressions as well.
